LODGE OF THE OZARKS
VUMS REUNION 2004
BRANSON WHERE VETERANS ARE HONORED !!
This small southwest Missouri City of 6.050 people has become a music haven, attracting nearly 7 million
visitors each year. It's a city surrounded by unspoiled natural beauty. and a community that has distinguished
itself for it's dedication to veterans and veterans issues.
Veterans are honored at Branson Shows with a special musical tribute and opportunity to be recognized and appreciated
by the performers and audience. Branson was selected as the template city for the 1999 national moment of
remembrance. At the request of the White House, members of the veterans task force were asked to take a
lead in developing a template that would be provided to other communities.
Branson has many special displays of veterans, particularly the large display in the Radisson
Hotel "HALL OF HEROES" of VETERANS OF UNDERAGE MILITARY SERVICE, which was accomplished by
our present National Commander Ray Jackson , our Immediate Past National Commander Ed Gilley and Mike Radford.
Honorary Member of VUMS.
Among the many other attractions is the Veterans Museum where VUMS also has a display which was accomplished
by our member Dorothy Brandt, Board member of VUMS from Colorado.
Hopefully, we will have the time during our reunion to visit these sites. While in Branson Our reunion headquarters
will be at the Lodge of the Ozarks. Visit their site which we have a link, to see what our facilities will have for us
during our stay in Branson.
